This course is for 16- 19-year-old school leavers who are interested in developing their understanding of Science and People. If you are looking to work in a science-based industry to help and support people, this combination of subjects is ideal. You may want to move into the world of criminology, social care or public health; then this is a great starting point.

What qualifications or experience do I need?
GCSE Grade 6 or a above in English Language & Maths, Science at grade 5 or above and at least 3 other subjects at grade 4 or above.
What will I study ?
Our level 3 mixed A Level/Voc programme give you the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in the general field of science with the addition of academic qualifications in Sociology and Psychology. This programme will be taught in collaboration with USP college using a combination of hands-on lab-based lessons and group theory lessons and workshops using our interactive connected classrooms, which allow students from both institutions to collaborate and develop together.
How will I be assessed ?
Assessment will be a combination of internal and external assignments and exams. Internal assignment-based work will be in the form of practical activities, experiments and reports. External exams will take place January and June, for the Applied Science qualification and May/June for the A Level subjects.
What qualifications could I achieve ?
You will work towards achieving a L3 Extended Certificate in Applied Science, which is the equivalent of one A level, and then 2 separate A levels, in Psychology and Sociology.
Will I need an interview ?
You will need to meet with the teaching team to discuss the course and your future plans for your career. This will take place at the point of enrolment.
Any extra costs for equipment/materials ?
There will be textbooks required for the A Level Subjects. You may wish to purchase your own lab coat and safety glasses for lab work.

STUDENT FINANCE ENGLAND WILL 'WRITE OFF' ANY ADVANCED LEARNER LOAN BALANCES YOU OWE FOR AN ACCESS TO HE COURSE ONCE YOU COMPLETE A HIGHER EDUCATION COURSE. THIS MEANS YOU DO NOT HAVE TO REPAY IT.
