Colindale Sport Students Train at England Football’s National Performance Centre

Level 2 and 3 Sport students from Barnet and Southgate College’s Colindale campus experienced elite football education first‑hand during a residential visit to St George’s Park, the home of the England football teams, on 18–19 April. 

The visit formed part of the College’s Juventus FC Men’s Academy programme, delivered in partnership with Juventus Academy London, which combines academic study with professional football development for aspiring players and coaches. 

During the residential, students trained in world‑class facilities used by national teams and elite professionals, taking part in high‑performance sessions and learning directly from experienced coaching and support staff. The experience gave students a valuable insight into the standards, discipline and mindset required to progress within the professional game. 

Kenrick Dyer, Sports Academy Lecturer and Academy Lead for the Juventus Academy Education programme, said: 

“The trip was fantastic, and the students represented both themselves and the College brilliantly, meeting all expectations. This was a golden opportunity to give our Football Education students direct exposure to world‑class facilities. I couldn’t be prouder of everyone who attended, and I’m especially proud to see the programme continuing to grow every year.” 

 

Students described the trip as both inspiring and memorable. Shane Callin, a student on the programme, said: 

“The St George’s Park trip was amazing. I loved every part of it, and I’m very appreciative of Kenrick for setting this up for us. Opportunities like this are rare, and the activities were fun, challenging and enjoyable. Training at that level showed me what’s really required, and it’s an experience I’ll never forget.”
