Celebrating our sustainability achievements this Green Week

This week is the Association of Colleges (AoC) Colleges Green Week 2026, and we are highlighting the positive steps being taken to build a more sustainable campus - and encouraging environmentally responsible behaviour among students and staff.

Sustainability is a key priority across the college, and progress has been made in improving waste management, reducing environmental impact, and raising awareness of sustainable practices across the campuses.

One of our key priorities for the coming year is to improve food waste segregation. Colleagues can play their part in ensuring they put food waste in the right bins, and educating students on best practice.

Facilities Manager, Pritesh Dattani, said: “A key focus for the college moving forward is tackling food waste. Across the campuses we are working to improve food waste collection and ensure it is separated correctly from general waste. By introducing clearer food waste disposal points and encouraging better waste separation in canteens and social spaces, we aim to reduce the amount of food waste entering general waste streams and ensure it is processed in the most environmentally responsible way possible.”

Throughout the week, students and staff are encouraged to learn more about recycling correctly, reducing food waste, and choosing reusable alternatives wherever possible. Green Week is an opportunity to celebrate the progress we have made while inspiring everyone across the college to play their part in protecting the environment.

Small everyday actions can make a big difference!
