Barnet and Southgate College Celebrates Higher Education Graduation at Barnet Church

London, UK – 23 April

Barnet and Southgate College proudly celebrated the achievements of its Higher Education (HE) students at a graduation ceremony held on Thursday 23 April, at Barnet Church. The event marked a significant milestone for graduates, their families, and the College, highlighting academic excellence and the continued success of its university partnerships.

Among last year’s cohort, several students stood out for their outstanding academic performance on the BSc Top-Up Degree in Business Management, achieving upper second-class (2:1) honours. These high-achieving graduates include Magda Alexandre Teixeira Da Silva, Wennette Wade, and Joy West, all of whom demonstrated exceptional commitment and academic ability throughout their studies.

In addition, Fengling Fan was recognised for her strong performance on the BA Top-Up Degree in Events Management, further exemplifying the quality and diversity of student success across the College’s Higher Education programmes.

The graduation ceremony also celebrated the College’s long-standing and successful partnership with the University of Greater Manchester (formerly the University of Bolton), which has been in place since September 2014. Through this collaboration, the College has delivered a range of Foundation Degrees and Top-Up Degrees in Business and Events Management, enabling students to access high-quality higher education locally.

Looking ahead, Barnet and Southgate College is working in collaboration with the University to recruit students for a new Foundation Degree in Early Childhood Studies, set to launch in September 2026. This programme reflects the College’s commitment to expanding opportunities in key sectors and supporting career progression in early years education.

The ceremony was honoured by the presence of Dr Walker, Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Greater Manchester, who attended to celebrate the achievements of the graduating students and the continued strength of the partnership.
