This programme is designed for young people aged 16–24 who want to develop the skills, confidence and experience needed to progress towards employment. The programme supports young people who may face barriers to employment and who would benefit from employability learning, workplace experience and personalised support. Some students will have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), while others may require additional support despite not having an EHCP. Students should be motivated to work towards employment and willing to participate in a substantial work placement.

What qualifications or experience do I need?

Applicants should: Be aged 16–24 Be motivated to work Be willing to undertake a work placement Be able to commit to the full programme Be willing to engage with coaching and support There are no formal qualification requirements. Applicants will take part in an initial assessment and discussion to help identify the most appropriate support and pathway.

What will I study ?

A substantial industry placement forms a central part of the programme. Students will develop workplace skills through real-life work experience supported by the programme team, employers and job coaches where appropriate. Students will normally complete these elements alongside their work placement: Employability skills English Maths Career planning Preparation for Adulthood Personal development

How will I be assessed ?

Assessment is ongoing and may include: Employability activities Workplace performance Placement reviews Progress reviews English and Maths assessments Feedback from employers, job coaches and tutors

What qualifications could I achieve ?

Students may work towards: Functional Skills/GCSE English Functional Skills/GCSE Maths Employability-related accreditation (where applicable) Qualifications will be determined according to individual need and prior attainment.

How do I join the course ?

Students should submit an Expression of Interest form. Eligible applicants will then be invited to discuss the programme with the Supported Internship team and complete the recruitment and assessment process.

Will I need an interview ?

Yes. All applicants will be invited to take part in an information and assessment process to discuss: Career aspirations Previous experience Support needs Readiness for work-based learning Future goals Parents, carers and referring professionals may also be involved where appropriate.

Any extra costs for equipment/materials ?

No significant course costs are anticipated. Students may need to cover the cost of travel to and from placements and may require appropriate clothing or footwear depending on the placement setting. Support with costs may be available for eligible students.
