This course is for 16-19 year olds who have an interest in studying the world of business. The focus is on being a good decision maker. Students should have sound literacy and numeracy skills, and should be interested in current affairs broadly as well as developments in the business world and the economy. The ability to question and debate will be key to success in this subject.

What qualifications or experience do I need?
General Qualifications: For 3 A Level subjects you require 6 GCSEs grades 9-4 in academic subjects, taken in one sitting. In addition there are subject specific entry criteria which relate to the specific demands of the subject. Specifically for Business you will require a minimum of a Grade 5 in English Language and a Grade 4 in Mathematics.
What will I study ?
Decision making, managerial skills and problem solving techniques are a major part of this subject. Specific topic areas covered will be management, leadership and decision making, what is business?, marketing, operations management (production), finance and accounting, human resources, strategic position analysis, strategic direction, pursuing strategies and managing strategic change.
How will I be assessed ?
Assessment will be by examination (3 written papers at the end of the second year). The examinations papers comprise of multiple choice questions, case studies, data response, short answer questions and essays.
What qualifications could I achieve ?
On successful completion of the course you will achieve an A Level in Business. This is an academic A Level and is accepted by all good universities.
