This is a Level 3 Course providing a BTEC Certificate in Counselling Skills. The aim of the programme is to help and assist people to develop advanced counselling skills and theory to prepare them for using counselling skills in different settings. It also prepares students to undertake higher level courses.

A relevant Level 2 qualification in counselling skills. A standard of literacy and numeracy equivalent to GCSE at grades A to C (8/9 - 4/5).

You will be required to attend the College for one evening per week. You will study the following topics: Developing counselling skills, various theoretical Approaches in the use of counselling skills, working ethically skills and personal development

Each unit is assessed throughout the course. A combination of assessments are used such as small assignment work, reflective journal, practical assessment of skills during the course and some small group work. Please ensure you bring to your interview a handwritten personal statement of approx. 200 words about why you want to work in Health and Social Care

Level 3 Edexcel BTEC Certificate in Counselling Skills.

Yes - you will be asked to attend an interview where you will discuss your readiness to embark on the next stage of training and how you think you meet the characteristics identified below:- Ability to translate intra-personal experience into language. willingness to benefit from self development, emotional stability, evidence of personal insight, ability to form a helping relationship, awareness of difference and diversity, ability to cope with the course content, motivated to developing counselling skills and knowledge.

Yes - you will have to purchase the recommended text books and stationery.
