This course is ideal if you have completed the Level 1 Diploma and want to develop your knowledge and skills. The Level 2 Diploma builds on the skills and experience you developed on the Bricklaying Level 1 Diploma and will further improve your experience in brickwork helping you learn, develop and practice the skills you need for further career progression as a bricklayer.
All applicants must have successfully completed the Bricklaying Diploma Level 1 before starting this Level 2 course. New applicants to the College should be able to demonstrate Level 1 numeracy and literacy capabilities through a short assessment during the admission process.
Building on from your Level 1 Diploma you will now study and practise, interpreting working drawings to setting out masonry structures, how to produce thin joint masonry and masonry cladding, building solid walling, isolated and attached piers and the construction of cavity walls. You will also learn about the relevant health and safety procedures. As part of the course you may gain work experience on site to further develop your experience and knowledge.
Your course work will be assessed throughout the course by a combination of tests and observed assessments of your practical work by a qualified assessor. You will be given help to prepare for all assessments and tests.
Successful completion of the course will lead to an award of Diploma Level 2 (City & Guilds 6705 Level 2). You will also have the opportunity to study towards gaining a CSCS card, increasing your employability.
