For those aged 16 and over who are interested in a career in dentistry. This qualification focuses on direct chair-side work and support during a range of dental treatments. It encompasses the underpinning ethics, professionalism, teamwork and communication required to work as a dental nurse. It forms part of the Advanced Apprenticeship in Health (Dental Nursing) standard for England and Wales.
All successful Apprenticeship candidates will need to demonstrate the ability to work at Level 2 in maths and English. An assessment will be undertaken prior to enrolment to establish your ability level. Level 2 qualifications in English and/ or maths will be delivered at the start of the apprenticeship for those who require them.
Our courses are closely mapped against the health and social care/dental sector requirements. This ensures that our curriculum is up-to-date, providing you with the assurance that learning is current and relevant. This does mean that we do have to respond to national changes, as a result, some of the information about our courses may change. You will cover units such as; Health and safety in the dental environment and regulatory requirements in relation to the role of a dental nurse. A range of assessment methods will be utilised, this provides the opportunity for different learning styles and individual needs of learners to be taken into account. This will include attendance at college, assessment in the workplace, written assignments, two external assessment exams, as well as End Point Assessment.
