Our state-of-the-art dental technology centre is now open at our Southgate Campus
As part of a multi-million 'make over' at Barnet and Southgate College, a brand new Centre for Dental Sciences opened in September 2017 in partnership with The University of Bolton .
The new dental technology centre offers students (who successfully pass a dexterity test and interview) a 21st Century learning environment with digital classrooms for CAD, CAM and 3D printing.
The BSC Centre includes resources such as a decontamination room, processing and casting labs, as well as three dedicated specialist laboratories with 60 workstations. All labs are equipped with the latest industry-standard equipment.
The aim of the programme is to give students substantial practical experience by replicating patient cases and using models (gone are the days of using perfect impressions for students) The programme develops critical thinking and problem-solving skills for all students and will improve the quality of new dental technicians to meet the needs of employers.
See what the students say:
Students benefit from dedicated learning zones with touch screen boards for interactive learning as well as the use of a large conference space for external and internal talks and demonstrations. They are also appointed their own experienced tutors who work in the industry and are dedicated to passing on the latest techniques and ideas.
Make the most of government funding and benefit from the country’s latest innovative training centre for dental technology.
Did you know the government will substantially help you with the costs of training staff? For example The Trailblazer Higher Apprenticeship for Dental Technology has been approved for funding since March 2015.
From the 1st May 2017 the Government released a simplified funding model where they will support 90% of the funding for a 10% contribution from employers. This means that employers will be required to pay £600.00 a year for this 3 year programme.
We are also very keen to talk to laboratories, dental technicians and supply companies who feel they could support this incredible new centre.
