For anyone who already understands the basic controls of a digital SLR camera. This course would suit those who want greater technical control of their cameras and would like to learn how to improve the visual style of their images when photographing on location.

There are no formal entry requirements, but some experience of SLR photography and basic computer knowledge is required. A commitment to improve your photography skills is essential.

The course will recap on the basic controls in your digital camera, moving from priority modes to manual mode. Understanding different focal lengths. Exploring composition, framing and camera angles. Understanding white balance when using available light. How to use built-in flash. An introduction to workflow and basic colour adjustment tools in Photoshop. There could be a photographic field trip, or visits to exhibitions, however, this is at the discretion of your tutor.

There is no formal assessment, however you will receive individual feedback on your portfolio of work.

Please complete an application form and return to the College with your payment - either online, by post or in person at the Wood Street Campus.

No interview is required.

Students should have their own digital camera and memory stick. If not, your tutor can offer advice on purchasing a camera to suit your needs.
