This instructor-led course prepares candidates to begin a career working with cybersecurity analysts within security operations centres. This is not just an online course; you will be given lecturers by an experienced instructor and have access to our professional lab for practical lessons, helping you to gain valuable employability skills. Today's organisations are challenged with rapidly detecting cybersecurity breaches and effectively responding to security incidents. Teams of people in Security Operations Centres (SOC's) keep an eye on security systems, protecting their organisations by detecting and responding to cybersecurity threats. The CCNA Cyber Ops certification prepares candidates for the Cisco Cybersecurity Fundamentals and Operations exams and act a gateway to networking, IT and cybersecurity jobs. Those with little to no computer systems experience may also like to start with the Professional Computer Maintenance IT Essentials or Cisco Networking courses.

This course has no prerequisites, though it would be of benefit if you have some knowledge or experience of networking, Windows and Linux operating systems and basic computer security concepts. Materials are comprehensive but require excellent reading and study skills. This is a fast-paced challenging course and you will be expected to be able to commit to learning, and being tested upon, a lengthy chapter with labs every week.

As well as guided professional instruction, you will have access to the Cyber Essentials and Cyber Security Operations online curriculums. This course covers a wide range of topics including: Cybersecurity and SOCs, Network, Security Concepts and Attack Methods, Cryptography and Public Key Infrastructure, Host-Based End-point Security and Analysis, Security Monitoring and Attack Methods, Windows and Linux Operating Systems, Protecting the Network, Intrusion Data Analysis and Incident Response. You will gain a basic understanding of how a SOC team detects and responds to security incidents, and protect their organisation's data from threats. In this course, you will gain practical skills as well as theory to prepare for job roles in Cybersecurity and working with a SOC team. You'll have access to computer and networking utilities including our fully kitted Cisco lab, providing you with the experience necessary to pass the examination and further your employability skills.

Each module is assessed through a combination of multiple choice examinations and practical skills demonstration. There is a final proctored examination held on-site.

You will be given a Cisco Cyber Ops Certificate for successful completion of the course. This programme also prepares you for the 210-250 SECFND (Understanding Cisco Cybersecurity Fundamentals) and 210-255 SECOPS (Implementing Cisco Cybersecurity Operations) exams. To achieve these certifications you will need to pass additional intensive on-line tests (a fee is payable not included in this course fee) which can be taken independently at any time from a Pearson VUE Testing Centre.

Please complete an application form and return to the College - either online, by post or in person at one of our campuses.

No, an interview is not necessary.

Our approach to Professional IT Certification offers FULL professional computing qualifications (Cisco CCNA and CompTIA pathways) in key areas of networking and cybersecurity. The courses are usually blocked in 18 weeks which progress through the certification pathways; starting with Cisco IT Essentials and CompTIA A+ and Cyber Security Essentials, through all of the CCNA Networking and CompTIA Network + curriculum to CCNA Security and Cisco Cyberops. They are structured so that students can train themselves as an IT Professional within one year.
