If you would like to teach post-14 learners in the Further Education (FE) and Skills Sector, then this course is for you. This is an 'in service' course which requires you to be in a teaching post or volunteering on a regular basis at an education institution to be able to participate and apply.

Entry Criteria for the Level 4 Certificate in Education You will need a Level 3 in a subject that is applicable to the further education and skills sector, such as psychology, law, media, sports or music technology. You will also need GCSE grade C (4/5) or above in English Language and maths (or Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy). Clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) is required at the point of accepting a place at the University. Entry Criteria for the levels 5-7 PGCE You will need an undergraduate degree (minimum 2:2) in a subject that is applicable to the further education and skills sector, such as psychology, law, media, sports or music technology. You will also need GCSE grade C (4/5) or above in English Language and Maths (or Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy). Clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) is required at the point of accepting a place at the University.

You will complete the following 6 modules over a 2 year period (3 Modules per year): Introductory Award in Education and Training; Enhancing Teaching, Learning and Assessment; Theories and Principles of Educational Practice; Subject Specialist Professional Practice; Curriculum in Context. You'll also choose one of the following optional modules: Principles and Practice of Leadership and Management in Post-14 Education; Post-14 Teaching in Schools and Academics; Promoting and Maintaining Behaviour for Learning; Learning Technologies for Education; Higher Education Teaching in Colleges; Research Project: The Enquiring Professional.

Assignments, Reflective Accounts, Seminar discussions, 8 classroom based observations.

Yes, you will need to meet with a member of staff for an interview and an initial assessment. This includes a written exercise and verbal questioning.
