This course is for post 16 students and will suit you if you have an interest in the human body and its relation to health and fitness; it involves fitness personal training, leading sessions, designing programmes and nutrition. It would also be suitable if you want to go onto further study and have an academic or a career interest in the health and fitness industry, with the ultimate aim of becoming a personal trainer.
Applicants are required to have 5 grade A-C's (7/8 - 4/5) at GCSE including English, maths and preferably PE. Applicants need to have a Level 2 fitness instructor qualification to enable them to join this course.
Subjects covered include: anatomy and physiology, health and safety, planning personal gym sessions and programmes as well as working with clients on a one to one basis.
You will undertake two theory exams that are externally assessed and two practical exams that take place in college.
On successful completion of this course you will attain a CYQ Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training
You should first decide on your specialist sports pathway, and then register for a trial via the online form. Once your trial is completed you can choose your course and complete and return a course application form. Yes, you will need to meet with a member of staff for an interview and an initial assessment after your trial.
