Designed to develop skills in science and engineering, this course is ideal for those who have a genuine interest in the subject and an aptitude for engineering.
You will need a minimum of 5 GCSE grades A* - C (9-4) including at least a B (5) grade in maths, a C (4) in English and a C (4) in an additional science. (A BTEC Level 2 Diploma (merit) in science or engineering is also acceptable.)
Topics covered in this course include: materials, mechanical and electrical principles, mathematics, Computer Aided Design (CAD), electronics, engineering science and fluid mechanics. You will also have the opportunity to study AS/A level mathematics or core mathematics and the extended project qualification alongside this course. qualification alongside this course.
You will be assessed through a combination of practical tasks carried out in laboratories; a variety of engineering investigations, reports, presentations and coursework assignments will form the basis of your portfolio.
