This course is for those who wish to gain experience and qualification in the field of assistive technology applied to health and social care within the community settings. This programme will enable participants to develop an understanding of technology applications in care. Telehealth and telecare awareness for health and social care providers will provide participants with an understanding of the benefits of technology in health and social care, as well as develop their knowledge on implementing and evaluating service redesigns, and incorporating assisted living into care pathways.
The course is suitable for those aged 16+ who are interested in how assisted living technologies can support the health & social care sector. Level 1 Literacy is a requirement.
Learners will study and explore the following areas: The terminology in the field of telehealth services; Understanding long-term conditions which may benefit from assistive technology; Understanding the rationale for using telehealth and telecare in healthcare delivery; Understanding the advantages, disadvantages and barriers of using assistive technology at local and national levels; Understanding the patient/user experience when using assistive living technology to assess and monitor their health; Understanding the role and responsibilities of carers in relation to the use of assistive technology.
Assessment is through a variety of methods designed to meet the learning outcomes for the course, including assignments and practical work.
