For those interested in developing their knowledge and skills in the Health and Social Care Sector

The course is for students aged 16-18 years. You will require 2 GCSEs grade E (2/3) or above, including English Language.

You will be required to attend college and a work placement one day per week to study a variety of Health and Social Care units, including, understanding the range of service provision and roles, understanding the principles and values in health and social care, awareness of protection and safeguarding in health and social care, an introduction to communication, awareness of equality and inclusion, health and safety and awareness of person-centred support.

Assessment is through coursework and 160 hours of practical work experience.

Yes, you will need to meet with a member of staff for an interview and an initial assessment - you will be required to undertake a literacy assessment and written task. Please bring a handwritten personal statement of approximately 200 words to your interview, highlighting why you would like to work in the health and social care sector.

There will be additional costs for text books, stationery and travel expenses to and from work placement.
