This course is designed for men and women who seek a career in hairdressing and includes English and maths.

Applicants must have some GCSEs at Grade E (2/3) or above, or E3 assessment in Literacy or ESOL. If you have any industrial experience that will be an advantage. You will be required to pass written and practical tests.

A range of topics are covered in the course including: How to shampoo and condition hair How to assist with salon reception duties How to assist with hair colouring and lightening services Blow drying hair Effective working relationships English, maths and work experience.

Assessment is through a range of methods including projects, practical observations, oral questions and external written tests.

Level 1 NVQ Certificate in Hairdressing & Barbering.

Please complete an application form and return to the College - either online, by post or in person at the Colindale Campus.

No, but you will be required to supply a satisfactory academic reference and you will be asked to do written and practical tests.

You will need to purchase a uniform, equipment and textbooks, which will cost approximately £200. There will also be some additional exam fees of about £100
