Our 9 hour IELTS Preparation Course is for students who have not studied on an IELTS course before. The course introduces the requirements of the IELTS test. It provides learners with reading and writing strategies and techniques to prepare for the exam.

Your level should be intermediate (B1 CEFR.) We will test you to make sure you the class is right for you.

An introduction to the IELTS exam and the 4 components: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking Skills. Essay and report writing skills. Vocabulary on a wide range of current topics. Speaking skills for a variety of contexts. Study skills to support your learning.

All students will be given homework to do every week including reading and writing tasks. You will also be given tests to assess your progress.

All students will receive a Barnet and Southgate College Certificate of attendance. You can take the IELTS exam at the end of your course.

You can be assessed at Southgate Campus, Mon - Fri. 10.00 - 12.00. The test usually takes 1 hour. If you not able to come for an assessment we can send the assessment test by email.

You will need to buy a course book to support your learning which are approximately £35.00. You are expected to bring a file and notebook to all your classes. The IELTS exam costs £150.00 - £200.00. .

You can start your course at any time during the year.

There is a great social programme for you to enjoy e.g. trips to museums and the theatre, visits to places outside London like Brighton and Cambridge.
