For students at elementary level who want to improve their general English language skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking. They can also prepare for the Cambridge English KET exam.

You should be at Elementary level (A2 CEFR.) We will test you to make sure the class is right for you.

The structures of language for everyday use. Communication for everyday situations. Writing tasks for description and informal and formal communications. A range of vocabulary and use of language. All aspects of the Cambridge English Key English Test.

All students will be given homework to do every week including writing tasks. You will also be given tests to assess your progress.

You can take the Cambridge English KET exam. All students will receive a Barnet and Southgate College Certificate of attendance.

You can be assessed at Southgate Campus, Mon - Fri. 10.00 - 12.00. The test usually takes 1 hour. If you not able to come for an assessment we can send you the assessment test by email

You will need to buy a course book which is approximately £35.00. You are expected to bring a file and notebook to all your classes. If you choose to do an exam you will need to pay for your exam £55 - 95.00 dependent on level.

You can start your course at any time during the year. Maximum class size: 20

There is a great social programme for you to enjoy e.g. trips to museums and the theatre, visits to places outside London like Brighton and Cambridge.
