The UK automotive industry is rapidly growing, offering many new and exciting employment opportunities. As the fourth largest vehicle manufacturer in Europe, Britain is home to seven major car manufacturers, seven commercial vehicle manufacturers, nine bus and coach manufacturers, eight major premium and sports car producers, over 100 specialist brands, and eight Formula 1 teams. The industry employs upwards of 720,000 people, offering a wide range of employment opportunities across many fields.

The College is geared towards ensuring we offer courses that enable you to make the most of these exciting employment opportunities.

Our focus is simple; we aim to provide you with the best training available, combined with the requisite employer links to get you the job you want. To this end, we actively engage mainstream motor vehicle companies and manufacturers to determine their employment needs, involve them in our curriculum planning, and as a result, fine-tune our courses to ensure that our students leave the College with exactly the right skills that employers are looking for. Here’s some of the highlights of our current offer:

The only College in London with its own motor racing team ; Barnet & Southgate College are the only College in London to boast its own fully fledged motor racing team, BSC Racing . The team is involved at the cutting edge of the motor racing industry by competing in mainstream Championships with its Mazda MX5  racing car, converted and tuned to racing specification by our Motorsport students. The course is overseen by a team of motor racing industry experts and has already been successful in creating many employment and further training opportunities in the motor racing industry for our students.

Our pioneering body and paint workshop  facility at Baird Road in Enfield is a bespoke, newly-created training environment, where the spray booths, paint-mixing room, and gun wash facilities are to state-of-the-art.

Environment and low-carbon emissions technology  - in line with government priorities, our courses take account of the latest developments in low-carbon emissions technologies.

Industry visits and trips ; whilst on your motor vehicle training course with the College, you will get the chance to engage directly with motor vehicle employers and industry experts, through employer talks at our employability sessions, and external visits to a wide range of motor industry employers.

We plan to ensure you get the training and employer links you need to ensure you get the job you want!
